Fashion Gives Back

During the Christmas season something that is always on my heart more than just finding gifts for my friends and family is the act of giving  The season of Christmas is so much more than just getting the things on our wish list.  If anything, this year has taught me that the Christmas season is about hope.  The other day I was listening to one of my favorite Christmas carols, "O Holy Night".  When the phrase, the "...the thrill of hope..." rang into my ears, it made me start to think.  Not only do I want to be thrilled by hope, but I want to share this hope to others.

So instead of another group of blog posts over the newest wishlist, here is something a little different.  I asked a few of my closest blog friends if they would be intersted in sharing some different ways that they like to give.  One of the greatest things about giving is that there are so many different needs that can be met, that whatever your passion, whatever you enjoy there is a charity that meets that need.  Take a moment today and look around at what my friends and I have all given towards and find out ways where you can give.  If you don't have an extra few bucks to spare, find a place where you can volunteer.  Give someone hope this holiday season.

Something that makes my blood pound in my heart is the thought of injustice happening in the world.  When women (or men) are treated unfairly and unjustly, it just makes my blood boil.  Now, no matter how much I want to, I can't fight these battles myself, but I can give to others who are fighting these battles.  This is why I chose to give towards Invisible Children, a non-profit organization that has helped to restore peace to Uganda.  Specifically, I am giving to Grace.  Grace is a child mother, when she was captured by the Lord's Resistance Army, she was forced into sex slavery.  When she finally escaped, she found out she was pregnant.  I will wear this bracelet in remembrance of her story, and of her struggle, but mostly to remind myself of how much we can overcome.

Take a moment today and check out why and where my friends are giving... and if you feel inspired, give to the charity of your choice and leave a comment about it.

Merl of Clyde's Rebirth gave to a few local shelters where she has received her famous cats, Clyde and Mo.

  3. This is such a great post! Thanks for sharing. On Christmas I gave my time to an organization called Little Brothers and helped deliver meals to homebound elders in the community. That hour of my time was better than all the gifts I gave and received that day. - Katy
