Nashville Life: Charlie Bob's

I have some how misplaced my transfer cord for my camera, which means I will have to wait and upload outfit photos later.  Which stinks because I was really excited!  However, I quickly remembered that I had some photos on my phone from when Sam and I went on an adventure.  Sam and I love trying out new restaurants and places in Nashville.  One of the things I love about Sam is that although he hates mushrooms, that is his only picky food peeve... otherwise he is incredibly adventurous.  A friend of his who honestly had never let us down as far as eateries go, suggested Charlie Bob's on Dickerson Pike as a place with great soul food and burgers.

Brief interjection: Nashville has more soul food joints than probably in the entire state of Texas.  There are so many amazing places that offer fried chicken, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, corn bread and lots of sweet tea.  Charlie Bob's is just one of them, but they did have something that set them apart from the rest: real roast beef gravy.

Sam ordered a "meat n two".  What the hell is a meat n two?  Don't worry, even though I have lived in the south my WHOLE life, it wasn't until I moved to Nashville that I heard this phrase.  It basically refers to a "meat" and "two" sides.  So for example, roast beef, with mac and cheese and green beans is a meat n two.  There are entire restaraunts that only serve "meat n #".  I say number because you can get however many sides you want if you pay for them.  I ordered a cheeseburger and sweet potato fries.  The food was amazing.

Charlie Bob's used to be an old drive-in on the very east side of town.  I am pretty sure that unless you have lived in Nashville your whole life, you may not have heard of it.  This place is definitely not on the path to anywhere close to where Sam and I live, but just a short drive from where our houses are in East Nashville.  Nashville has a lot of history and this place definitely represents that.

Charlie Bob's is located at 1330 Dickerson Pike in Nashville, TN.  They are open Monday-Saturday serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

  4. Good god I love sweet potato fries. However, we could never date. There are many obvious reasons for this, but the one I am thinking of is that I am an insanely picky eater. I would annoy the hell out of you.
