First sewing projects of 2010

Late last night I received an e-mail that my sewing machine had been shipped.  This morning when I checked on the tracking, it notified me that it will be arriving TOMORROW!  I thought I would at least have a weekend to prepare for the new addition, but I'm excited none the less!  I cannot wait to start jumping into some of my sewing projects that have literally been piling up on my sewing table.

First: BuiltByWendy Skirt pattern from my Sew U book.  I'm doing a muslin first, which I'm really never one to do a muslin, seriously.  But I want to make sure that I'm doing this correct and taking my time.  Once the muslin is complete, watch out.  Then I will do the skirt in an actual wearable fabric.

Although in the picture the fabric looks more wild hot pink, its actual more of a cranberry color.  I want to either make this into a pencil skirt or a mini skirt using the BuiltByWendy pattern.  This will be my second zipper (my first zipper will be on the muslin).  I am really excited about using this corduroy and wearing this corduroy!  Not excited about the zipper though.

My next project will mostly use my serger, which will be the first project I have done on my serger!  I am going to make Dress C out of this amazing bamboo black jersey.

Clearly the picture doesn't do this fabric justice.  I honestly can't wait to wear it once it is finished.  But I haven't even cut it out yet!

My mom gave me this fabric because she wasn't sure what she would do with it.  I think it would be great to make an apron with, and maybe one of the bags from my Lotta Jansdotter Simple Sewing book.

Here are the first projects that I am going to do with my new sewing machine.  I can't wait to show you the finished results.

OH... p.s. i texted Rob (Blackledge) a few weeks ago because i was in Krogstein (kroger?) and his song was playing!!! i probably looked like an idiot. i said those dreadful words, "I KNOW HIM!!! OH MY GOSH! Aaron, that's ROB singing!!!"
