Let's Talk Moolah on Money Smart Fashion

Do you guys know Grace?  Well you should!  Grace has a fantastic blog about finance and fashion called Money Smart Fashion.  She gives real-life advice and tips on how to use your money wisely.  I am constantly encouraged by what she writes and I think she's great.

A few months ago she e-mailed me and asked me about money!  Well, today my answers to her questions are posted on her blog.  So get over there already!

PS - I'm taking the week off from dear old blog.  I am just a little bit above normal busy and still need to cling to my sanity.  I'll be back next week, and I'll be wearing clothes.  I mean, I wear clothes most of the time (I know sassy).  But on my blog, I will definitely be wearing clothes and they will be pretty amazing.

Mentioned in ReadyMade Magazine

When I first moved to Nashville, I worked at a coffee shop downtown.  During my lunch break, I would thumb through this magazine called ReadyMade.  I loved ReadyMade!  It was so crafty and cool... and oh, so modern.  Who would have guessed that three years later, I would be mentioned in this same exact magazine as one of their fave follows?  I am beyond honored and thrilled.  I admire this magazine so much and I am just blown away that I have been mentioned in this magazine.  When I first heard about it, I cried.  When I first saw it, I really cried.

ReadyMade magazine comes out every two months and is chock full of modern building projects, gardening projects, seriously awesome recipes, simple sewing and wardrobe projects... and its not hokey like some craft magazines can be... its just seriously cool.

A huge thanks to ReadyMade for bestowing such an honor towards me.  I am so incredibly flattered and grateful.  Make sure to check out their new site that just launched today!

Breton Stripes!

  • Remember when I was belly aching (aka whining) about wanting a striped shirt?
  • Remember when my friend Tori brought me a bunch of stuff that she didn't wear anymore?
  • Remember when I got flooded out of my house and so I only have a weeks worth of clothes with me?
  • Remember when it got really cold in Nashville and I didn't have any sort of jacket?

Can we just take a moment and sit back and think about this situation?  Because really, how am I supposed to function as a fashion blogger when I'm having to borrow my boyfriend's blazer?  Really?  So just bare with my own personal natural disaster infused thrown together outfits this week.  I really tried to keep everything as basic as possible just because I only have one suitcase and the rest of my stuff is in storage.  But I mean, think about this for a second... does life get any more real than this?

Trust me, if you want anymore proof of the fact that I don't have it all together, this is it.

A huge thanks to the stripes round up that Jessica did over on What I Wore today.  I am thrilled to be included in this!  Go check out all the lovely ladies who participated in What We Wore: Breton Stripes

In the event of a water evacuation...

Hooray!  I am back from my little bloggy break.  It felt so good to just step back, but I did end up really missing blogging.  First off, I want to say HELLO to all my new readers.  A huge thanks to Independent Fashion Bloggers for choosing my post for Links a la Mode last week and to Kjrsten of {have a cute day} for dropping my name in her post this past weekend.  I know I say this a lot, but the more that I dive into the fashion blogging community, the more that I absolutely fall in love with how generous and spectacular all these women are.  I think that's why the post on IFB totally took me by surprise because it just kind of solidified that I am being heard, and that my insights are.... worthy?

Let's get on to this outfit!  If you follow Kristin of Leproust Vintage then you know where this outfit was featured on her Etsy appreciation photos.  Like I said a few weeks ago, Kristin was so generous and let me raid her vintage closet.  I put on this dress and immediately loved it.  I couldn't wait to take it home and style it up.  I decided to just completely roll with the whole sexy 70s flight attendant vibe.  I told my mom that surely, this looked like something she would have worn in the 70s.  The day I wore this dress I got so many compliments on it!  I think it was more than just the dress but I just felt so confident.
