Black Velvet Maxi Skirt

How is everyone's holiday going?  I actually really love the time between Christmas and New Year's.  I feel a little invincible.  So much has happened in 2010 and I'm about to kick it out the door.  I am so hopeful for the new year.  Just you wait 2011, I have a feeling you are going to spectacular.

My Christmas was great.  I flew out on Christmas Eve to visit my parents in Austin.  It was incredibly relaxing to just lounge around the house and eat cookies and watch tons of cable television.  I miss cable.  On the day after Christmas, I got completely caught back up on the last season of Weeds.  I got to spend lots of time with parents, and being an only child... I really like that.  Anytime I can have all the attention to myself, of course, I totally prefer that.

I have a story for yall today.  When I was in junior high and high school, I had this long black maxi skirt.  It was stretchy polyester with a split that went right up the front right below my knees.  When I walked, the flaps of the split would whip back and make this slapping noise.  Although, I hated walking in that skirt, I loved the way it looked.  Maxi skirts can look so elegant and feel so casual.  Let's take the exhibit above.  A black velvet maxi skirt (ahhhh!!!).  I feel so classy and meanwhile I am sitting cross legged on my bed still wearing the same skirt (I'm writing this at night).  I picked this baby up at Buffalo Exchange in Austin.  I think the Buffalo Exchange in Austin is probably my favorite resale store in the world... yep.

Red blazer: Gift from Sam
Gray t-shirt: Lands' End Canvas
Necklace: Beacon's Closet
Maxi Skirt: thrifted, Buffalo Exchange
Flats: Old Navy

By the way, I am slightly obsessed with Lands' End Canvas at the moment.  I love all the stuff I got from them.  And, they aren't paying me to say any of this, I just really love their stuff...  true story.
